Literature Text
Wrap me up in silver lining,
Tie me twice with
Golden string
Carry me up the
Narrow stairs
And let our love story
Begin…
I'm just a girl who reads
Romantic books by the armful
From the city's chrome library,
Just someone who pulled her first pair
Of pantyhose
(from the drugstore)
On in a wobbly dressing room,
(so distracted I left the box)
You're just a man,
Talking about your
Acres of apple orchards,
Your lakes and your business
Wondering what you
Can still work for,
Fiddling with your iPod,
Fiddling with your coffee cup
I think life is
Overrated,
You think it's
Too easy
A hundred years ago
There'd be wicker chairs
And a balcony,
And we would be smoking
Long cigarettes
Minors could drink
Champagne and no one would
Even blink
You'd have a suit
with a handkerchief
In the pocket, waiting
For something new
I'd be wearing a
Scandalous little black dress,
Snuck from the downstairs to
The luxurious lounge car where you
Are
We both wear jeans now,
But we can remember
What it was like
Even if we were
Never there
Tie me twice with
Golden string
Carry me up the
Narrow stairs
And let our love story
Begin…

That Is Love
A freidnship that will conquer all odds
One life needing another,
Needing them to breath, live, love...
Feeling the pain when they are not there
An emptiness that aches through your whole being.
The lightness you feel feel when they come around the bend
How your heart skips a...beat and your breath pulls from your
chest.
Brushing hands and smiling because of the touch....
Your lips meet and life makes sence
Knowing you aren't alone in the universe
Connecting for the first time.....
That is Love

The love letter began.
Two old men sat in their greasy work clothes at bright red booths while sipping black coffee, as they talked about war. Of course it wasn't the ongoing war in Iraq that they were talking about. [ That would be too controversial of a conversation to have in this little bible belt town.] Instead, it was the Vietnam war that they spoke of. Quite a boring conversation if you ask me, but bits and pieces of it were interesting, especially the parts about the older mans brother, who went to war as a well respected level headed man, and came home seriously fucked up in the head. It was fun to sit and listen to them ta

So I was on a train to Oregon yesterday. They still have "dressing rooms", which have a mirror, sinks, two chairs, and a cute little stool. No one else was in there. Anyway, I found a box of pantyhose on the floor(empty), and it sort of inspired this poem.

This is an amazing piece of work. I love your ideas, because I think the images and feelings you represent here are felt by romantics all over the world. A very finely executed fairytale, condensed into 11 stanzas.
